Lee County Historical & Genealogical Society to Host Veterans Day Program
The Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 p.m. at the Society’s headquarters located in the former Old Friendship Church west of Jonesville. Our guest speaker, Richard C. “Rick” Sprinkle, Jr., will discuss his experiences and perspectives related to Beirut (1982), Grenada (1983), Operation Just Cause (1989), and Operation Desert Storm (1991).
Rick Sprinkle is a graduate of Jonesville High School in 1983. Prior to graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October of 1982 and attended USMC Reserve meetings with Delta Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He served 8 ½ years of active duty in the Marine Corps Infantry as an 81mm Mortarman and eventually an LAV Crewman. Rick was involved in multiple overseas deployments and one overseas Permanent Duty Station in the United Kingdom. He was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Rick holds an MBA from LMU and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking from LSU. He has 31 years in banking and is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Commercial BancGroup, Inc. in Harrogate, Tennessee. Rick, his wife Monique, their son Daniel, dog Sarge and mean-cat Shelia, reside at his family’s old homeplace in Hurricane Hollow across the Powell River near Jonesville, Virginia.
